About a month ago I met with several roofing companies. Stu with L & N Roofing was the first person I met with. I knew after meeting Stu that his company was the one I was going to choose to do the job. Stu was professional and personable. When I told him that I had other companies coming out to give bids his response was "You should". He then gave me several questions that I should ask the other companies to make sure I was going to get the best deal possible. L & N's bid was not the cheapest, but it definitely wasn't the most expensive. What I liked about L & N is that every other company wanted to completely replace all the plywood decking even if it didn't need it. L & N only replaced what was needed. L & N's price also included new vents and flashing so that everything would match. All the other companies were going to reuse the old vents and flashing. When our house was built, no flashing was installed around the skylight, which is what caused the leak in our house. L & N offered to raise the skylight and install flashing instead of completely replacing the skylight. Every other company did not give us a choice, we were told that we would have to replace it. We opted to replace the skylight, but it was nice that we were given a choice. We had a gutter hanging off the side of the house. All the other companies told us that they could go ahead and completely replace the gutter system for an additional charge of course. Stu told me that they would go ahead and reattach the gutter for no additional charge. It took a total of 1 1/2 days to complete the job. The first day the workers came out and ripped off the old roof, put down the underlayment, and installed the new skylight. On day 2 they put down the shingles, installed the flashing and vents, and repaired the gutter. Each day they completely cleaned up after themselves. I cannot recommend L & N enough. They were fast, professional, and clean. I also didn't have to pay for the job until it was done. Every other company wanted 1/3 of the total in advance. If you're looking for a roofer, definitely give L & N a call and at least get a estimate.

Description Of Work :
Removing a 30-year-old (!) roof and replacing it. Included new gutters all around the house. New plywood base in several spots was required due to previous poor installation leading to rot (no paper backing!). Home is in a very wooded area, which led to lots of moss growth on the roof. Replaced with new algae-resistant shingles to help prevent moss growth. Included new roof vents where none existed before. Included a sealed rubberized roof on the part of the home which has a flat roof. Four days of work from 5-6 men per day.

We got estimates from 5 different roofers. Two bids were extremely high (well over $20,000), so we concentrated on the three others which were in the $6,000 range. These three were less than $500 apart from each other. L & N was not quite the lowest, but I was impressed with the estimator (one of the owners) - his demeanor, friendliness, and knowledge. For a $6,000 job, spending a couple hundred more was trivial compared to hiring the people I liked. Work took four days (it's a fairly large roof, including a flat portion, two-car garage and two-car carport) and was done by 5-6 men per day. The workers were all friendly, happy to answer my questions, and worked hard, and they were very conscientious about our occasional needs to come in & out of the garage or carport. They also worked well with our small dog - making sure to close the fence gates so that she wouldn't escape. Gutters were installed just as I'd requested, so that they'd drain properly. The workers did a *great* job of cleaning up after themselves each night - no problems with nails on the driveway or anything else (a different roofer, used years ago for repairs due to a tree falling on the carport, led to a nail in my foot and a tetanus shot!). The work began and ended on time, on budget, and according to the estimate. I'll be happy to use this company again, and have already recommended them to others - including my own father.

Description Of Work :
L & N Roofing has took off old moss and old roofing, replaced some roof boards and re-roofed.

Took a couple hours to remove old moss and roof on day one and covered roof with ARPS on second day. Took three hours to put the whole thing done. It was made right. Men were very nice, no cussing, cleaned up most of the mess. Just left some roofing on one side of the house.

My roof was installed by L & N Roofing at a reasonable price with outstanding work ethic. The workers were prompt, neat and left the job site in a tidy manner so that it was not necessary to navigate around someone's work mess. This made the worry of having to have your roof replaced so much more pleasant.

The thoughtfulness of tending to needed repairs that showed up during the roof replacement alleviated stress that happens when one discovers that the job is halted because the contractor is going to wait to get your approval, even though it needs to be done and you are going to do it anyway. The pricing was very fair. This decisiveness in getting the repair done so that the roofing would be correct was and is much appreciated.

The roof is, in my opinion, the best looking in the neighborhood. When we sat down and discussed the products available, there was a range of materials available with product knowledge about each material furnished by Loren Girsberger. After thinking over the options my choice was to use Owens Corning® Woodmoor shingles. My reasons for selecting this product were quality, warranty and the fact that this is a local company employing people from our community.

I am a satisfied customer that paid a fair price and received an excellent roof with a good warranty.

We are so happy with our new roof. It looks great and the whole process went smoothly. Your workers were very coureous and helpful. Once the project got going, it was finished quickly and with little interruption to our daily lives.

We especially appreciated your own personal attention to our project. I met Loren prior to he and his crew roofing my house. I was very impressed with his knowledge and determination to supply me with all opti9oins and recommendations. He checked my roof for any weaknesses and underlying damage that needed repair before applying the roofing. He included this in his final estimate which was outlined in detail.

After meeting his crew a few days later I was even more impressed. They were a great bunch of guys; all friendly, positive and did great work.

Everything was completed as promised on time, at estimated cost, and yard and shrubs absolutely protected and clean.

I would like to highly recommend Loren and L&N Roofing for your roofing needs. Loren and his crew did a complete tear off and re-roof of my manufactured home and they did a wonderful job and all in one day.

This past month I needed to have some dry rot repairs for my house. I had been waiting for 2 weeks for a contractor to arrive, who had never appeared. When I called Loren Girsberger, owner of L&N Roofing, there was an immediate difference from the others I had called that impressed me. First, he listened to my concerns, and I could tell that he really listened. He was able to come to my house to review what I might need in the way of repair as a free estimte, within a short span of days. When he arrived, he carefully checked for any existing problems, took the time to explain to me the priorities, and processes to make repairs. I knew immediately that I was in the presence of a skiled person with years of roofing experience, entirely honest and thorough, that I could trust for the repairs. he fit the work in among other larger projects, solved the dry rot issues, improving serveral areas of doors and windows that had caused me concern from water damage, all within budget and time needs. Your people did an excellent job tearing off three layers of old roofing then replacing it with plywood and new roofing on my home. As a retired contractor, I wanted the best service as well as hopefully the best price. You were not low bidder of the three but your presentation included a clear list of materials, your contract form, a notice of procedure regarding residentail construction arbitration and lawsuits, a consumer protection notice suggesting actions to take when hiring a contraction and Oregon law related to construction leins - in short, a complete package of information of value to any consumer. I was not really prepared for the skilland energy of your crew. Those men worked as tirelessly during the last hour of the day as they did during the first hour - They were happy and upbeat as well. Your jobsite was very, very clean with all loose items picked up and stored and all areas swept broom clean then cleared of nails by magnets. Loren and Noe,

I want to thank you for the excellent roof job you did at my rental. I had 3 bids on the job. Loren did a thorough evaluation of the roof and its problems. We also had water damage to the front porch tongue and grove ceiling. Loren was a hands on guy, not a salesman who has probably never layed a roof in his life. He thoroughly addressed all the issues and the remedies to fix them. His printed bid reflected our discussions. The other 2 bids were either very vague or didn't even address the problems that had been discussed and that I knew were serious.

Noe and his crew were very effective and skilled at their jobs. Noe was on the roof working with his crew. They completed the job in one day as they said they would. The site was completely cleaned up. You would have never known a complete tear off had even occurred. Loren gave me very reasonable bid on the tongue and a grove ceiling which he himself completed.

This letter is not only a thank you for a job well done, but also a letter of recommendation for L&N Roofing. It doesn't get any better when you have the owners of a company actually being part of the work crew. It is very satisfying as a consumer to have a company that is not only very consumer oriented, but very professional, and hands on. I am writing to recommend L & N Roofing for residential roof replacement and construction. It was just a couple of months ago when I was frantically reviewing consumer references for a new roof on our house. I found L & N Roofing was among one of the higher rated roofing/construction companies in the area for customer service and affordability.
After researching several companies and entertaining four different bids, my wife and I were able to unanimously select L & N Roofing for the job LOREN G. (Owner) and NOE LOPEZ (Manager), personally visited our home and were able to quickly and confidently quote the most reasonable bid among the four, still using the same materials quoted by the other companies. L& N Roofing advised me they usually complete the removal and replacement in one day as their staff have worked closely together for a long time.
L & N was able to begin work promptly upon the first compatible weather and I watched with awe, as a large team, along with NOE LOPEZ and LOREN G., worked tirelessly throughout the entire day and removed my old 3 layered roof and added new plywood and a new roof with efficiency. I was impressed by their work ethic. At the end of the day, I watched as the team meticulously cleaned the entire work site and my yard, not once, but multiple times by different staff members. Everyone on the team was professional and courteous.
In addition to a new roof, I also needed structural repair to my garage roof. NOE LOPEZ and LOREN G. devised a sound plan and implemented it, keeping me informed the entire time about the progress. At the conclusion, L & N completed this job beyond my initial expectations.

I have a rental property in N.E. Portland which was badly in need of roof repair. I called in L&N Roofing for an estimate and proceeded with their fairly priced recommendation.

After Several attempted repairs over the years, water leaked in collapsing the bedroom drywall, ceiling, and walls. L&N Roofing completely rebuilt the roof area allowing for sufficient water runoff. The bedroom area was left unfinished so I can have a drywall company come in to finish that part of the project.

L&N Roofing tore off the existing roof and replaced with Owens Corning, 30-year Algae Block shingles. The roof looks great, the price was right, and the job was done on time. I was kept advised at all times during the project. I would recommend L&N Roofing for any roofing project and to include any reconstruction. They did a thorough and timely job.

L&N Roofing did year off 2 layers and replaced my roof. There were also areas requiring repair.
L&N Roofing did a very professional job. Loren took as much time as was needed to be sure we were comfortable with the materials being used and answered all of our questions. I couldn't ask for better customer service. Loren kept us up to date on all of the scheduling as quickly as he could.

The crew arrived on time and worked quickly and efficiently. They had to order extra plywood and had it delivered immediately. Clean up was done throughout the entire process.

Noe Lopez didn't just replace the dry rot. He took the time to answer questions about the exact material being used and showed us the rotted material he was replacing. The repairs made look very professional.
Their original bid was a couple thousand lower than the other bids we received. The additional charges for materials/repair work were very fair.

If we need another roof we will be looking for L&N Roofing to come out again. We would be happy to refer any one of our family or friends to L&N Roofing for future work.

Hi,

I would like to say that I was really pleased with how well Noe handled my project he was real professional and pointed out all the issue that the roof had after the tear off and he let me decide what steps to take during the project as far as repairs that needed to be done, he also keep me in on what steps he was taking to make sure the roof was done. In a perfect condition to my liking. The other thing he made sure his crew protected the plants and he had a cleanup crew on the job the whole time during the project and trust me this was a big roof with a lot of cuts over 30 squares of roofing and a ton of flashing and as far as the time Noe and his crew started on a Saturday and finished on a Monday with Sunday off now that was very impressive. I would say that Noe and his crew were very courteous at all times.
